Standing 32 meters tall, this statue of Jesus, on Small Mountain in Vung Tau, is interestingly one of the tallest Jesus statues in the world. The 800 steps to the hilltop offer some of the best views of the city and the South China Sea.
There is no entrance fee but a small donation is expected as you leave. Stone benches line the walkway upwards and at some of the lookout points. Names and cities of people are engraved on the benches indicating, I suppose, people who have donated to the project that was completed in 1993.
The entrance to the mountain can be found on the hill between Front Beach and Back Beach (click for map). The grounds are closed at 5 PM every day, which gives visitors just enough time to catch the early part of the sunset.
