In the fall of 2013, the school held a day with the parents. There was an opening ceremony modeled after the olympics. Each class had a poster and matching sweaters that their parents also wore. From there the spirit of competition sort of dissolved into an adorable play day. I was there to photograph the event
During my first year are the kindergarten, the students gave a dance performance. They dresses up in traditional dress, acted, sang, and had a lot of fun before their afternoon naps.

In the spring of 2013, the kindergarten took the children and their parents on an outing to a flower park across the river.
From 2012 to 2015 I taught at a private kindergarten in Yichang. I really enjoyed teaching the young students. Once a term, I would pick a week and use that time to take class photos.
In the spring of 2013, the kindergarten held a parent/student activity. Everyone assembled for morning calisthenics and games. Then the parents taught the children how to fly kites. There were so many beautiful moments.

In 2013, I dressed up as Santa Claus for the children. This was usually a task for whoever was the "new" foreign teacher. I was lucky enough to have an assistant who knew how to use a camera and the resulting photos came out pretty good.
The kindergarten held various parent/child events. The book making day was one of my favorites where I had no role except as the invisible foreigner taking photos around the building.
The Kindergarten held a performance for Children's Day. Each class dressed up on cute costumes and gave a little show for the parents. I had full access behind stage to capture many candid moments.
It is quite amazing to drive an hour outside of the city and find the air and water to be pristine. May Day is a time for barbecue and plodding around the mountain streams that are yet too cold to swim in. Here is the story behind the trip
